Lot 53:
Stunning pair of monumental Chinese cloisonne enamel Foo Dogs/Buddhist Lions. Each male and female figure is seated on their rear haunches upon an integral rectangular plinth with geometric patterns. The male’s paw over a ‘brocade’ ball and the female’s paw over a playful cub, with both revealing teeth.
China, 20th c.
Provenance: private collection in Pennsylvania.
H: 20 in., (51 cm.)
Condition: The pair is well-preserved. The inamel is on good conditon. No dents.
