A fine quality Russian tableware set comprising six silver-gilt serving spoons by Nicholas and Plinke, St. Petersburg, circa 1900. Each spoon features a hand-engraved monogram on the handle. Presented in a wooden case with a beige velvet lining.
Hallmarks: 84, NP, 1846, AAT.
"Nicholas & Plinke" was one of the most famous and prominent St. Petersburg firms for the manufacture of silver products from 1829 – 1898. The owners of the firm, William Nichols and Konstantin Plinke, were originally from England. In 1829 they founded a firm "English Store. Nichols and Plinke, " which was a monopolist in the supply of highly artistic silverware for the Imperial Russian Court.
