Lot 269:
An antique English bowie or fighting knife with sheath. The knife features a stag handle with sterling silver foliate repousse pommel and bolster (Marked "Sterling" on each). The blade is single-edged with a clip/drop point and a straight, horizontal guard. Marked on the ricasso: James Rodgers Royal Cutlery Sheffield. The knife comes in a tooled leather handle sheath displaying a silver chape and throat. The throat features a relief decoration shaped like a boar’s head.
L: 17 in., (43 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall. Signs of age and wear throughout. Rust on manufacturer’s mark.
