AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Lot 312:
This Victorian-era dagger was made to resemble a trident parrying dagger of the Renaissance. Trident daggers are typified by their spring-loaded prongs which separate from the main body of the blade when a button is depressed. The purpose of the prongs is defensive, designed to catch an opponent’s sword blade with one’s offhand while attacking with the dominant hand.
England, Victorian Era.
L: 17.75 in. (45.09 cm.);
Condition: Good condition overall. Tines do not always stay shut. Some trouble with closing them again.
