Marine officer’s dagger with gilded brass S-shaped crossguard mounted with stylized dolphin-head quillons, palmette-stamped escutcheon half-oreillons, lion-head leafy pommel, single-branch chain hilt. Mother-of-pearl grip plates and floret friezes.

Curved, single-edged blade with flat back and counter-edged tip, half decorated with bluing and gilded trophies, flowers and wreaths. Gilded pommel marked "P.K.", attributed to Peter KNECHT.

Brass scabbard, with two fittings and two loose suspension rings, decorated with scrolls, festoon friezes and cartouches, and an anchor on one side framed by two letters "E.A.".

Condition: One mother-of-pearl plate repaired, and small chips; wear; a few scratches, stains and minor oxidation on the blade; a few dents to the scabbard.
