A model 1855 senior officer’s saber from the national arms factory in Châtellerault, France. The blade is a straight, double-edged saber with three fullers running down the full length of the blade. The blade is engraved, in French, within two of the three fullers with the manufacturer’s mark, the date June 1860, and model number ("Manufacture Impériale de Châtellerault – Juin 1860. Officier Supérieur – Modèle 1855"). The hilt is of bronze with decorative floral and laurel motifs and a horn handle.

Condition: Very good overall. Subtle signs of oxidation in the handle. The scabbard shows signs of rust throughout.
