A rare fraternal commemorative sword of a member of the Patriotic Order Of Sons Of America. Cast-brass hilt featuring a figure of George Washington, the blade is richly engraved on both sides featuring a knight’s tournament scene and floral designs and manufacturer mark on ricasso "C.A. HART & CO./PHILADELPHIA", brass scabbard with initials "SC" and P.O.S.A. star. The Patriotic Order Sons of America is a patriotic fraternal organization founded in 1847 in Philadelphia that traces its origins to the anti-alien riots of the 1840s.
