An Ottoman Turkish shamshir of the 19th century, bearing a grip of horn which concludes with a pommel curved outward at a 90-degree angle. The guard is of brass and is shaped as two long tapering rods ending in lozenge finials. The blade is dramatically curved in the characteristic manner of shamshirs and tapers to a fine point. The scabbard is of wood wrapped in black leather and is mounted with a white metal chape and throat, as well as a ring just below the throat.
