A Model 1842 flintlock pistol produced by Henry Aston of Middletown, Connecticut. These pistols were produced between 1846 and 1855 under contract for the US Military and saw action in the Mexican-American War and the US Civil War. The remnants of the maker’s marks can be seen on the lockplate and the inspection mark can be seen on the left side of the stock, though all are obscured by wear.
The bore of this pistol is smooth and 14 mm in diameter.

Condition: Poor condition with much of the lettering obscured, pitting throughout, some parts broken or damaged, especially cocking hammer and ramrod holder. Stock in good condition.
