AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Lot 83:
A bronze bust of a man dressed in classical Roman-style armor mounted on a marble base. The style and details of the bust suggest that it may represent a historical figure, possibly a Roman general or emperor, given the classical iconography and the detailed breastplate featuring an emblem, a mythological symbol (possibly a Gorgon’s head, which was often used on Roman armor as a protective symbol).
19th century.
H including base: 16 5/8 in., (42 cm.)
Condition: The bust is in perfect condition.
