AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Лот 114:
A steel breastplate dating to the beginning of the 17th century, decorated throughout with incised linework and stamped designs. At the left shoulder of the piece are two marks, an ‘I’ and a ‘4’, which are probably maker’s marks. There are multiple attachment points throughout, including many lacing holes at the edges and two studs for connecting the straps which would join the breastplate to the backplate, as well as two brackets that may have acted as belt loops of a sort for attaching holsters and sword-frogs.
Western Europe, Probably France — Early 17th Century.
L: 18 in., (45.7 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall. The surface is slightly pitted.
