An E. & F. Hörster 2nd Model Naval (Kriegsmarine) dagger with its original portepee, or tassel, decoratively wrapped about the grip. The pommel which depicts a perched eagle with folded wings atop a wreathed swastika, is the distinctive feature of the 2nd model. The grip is of white celluloid with tightly wound brass wire fittings. The crossguard displays the standard fouled anchors on each side of the center block (one side covered by the portepee). The scabbard is a lightning-bolt type of gilt metal with two suspension rings affixed to oakleaf lockets. The blade bears crisp etchings on both sides depicting naval motifs and the etching of the manufacturer’s mark on the ricasso.

Condition: Blade is in very good condition with light pitting on one side of the blade towards its tip. Scabbard retains its original gilding, with a very light dent on one side towards its bottom. Original tassel with some wear.
