AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Лот 449:
An early 19th-century Dutch sea service pistol, likely created in Liege. Liege is known as part of Belgium now, but at the time was part of the broader United Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Being a military pistol it is relatively austere. The barrel is unadorned except for a sort of curved ‘L’ stamped where it meets the tang, the metal fittings are of brass, and the lock mechanism is of the usual European type. The stock does have some small carvings projecting forward from the trigger guard area that appear to resemble small flowers. The pommel of this pistol is flat with a large ring from which one would tie a lanyard.
Bore: 20mm
Netherlands, ca. 19th Century.
L: 15 1/2 in., (39 cm.)
Condition: Good overall, with some surface rust throughout. Brass cap near the muzzle is slightly loose. Stock has many small dings and scratches. Springs of the lock mechanism are weak.
