AUCTION 51: A NEW YORK ART AND COLLECTIBLES SALE
Lot 151:
A Chinese cloisonné enamel incense burner of a beautiful light blue color with many different types of flowers of many different colors all throughout the piece. The rounded belly of the piece is set atop three legs on a wooden base, each leg emanating from a beast’s open maw. The lid is similarly patterned to the body of the piece but is also chased and pierced throughout with depictions of bats among ‘xiangyun’ or ‘auspicious clouds’, the piercing of these sections allowing the smoke to rise from the bowl.
