An art nouveau patinated bronze vase designed by J. Malvaux for H. Lupper & Compagnie, a bronze foundry in Saint-Gilles, Belgium. The piece has a flowing organic shape like that of a flower beginning to bloom and is surrounded by leaves and an orchid in bloom. The leaves themselves act as a sculptural handle for the ewer. The rear and bottom are signed by J. Malvaux and H. Lupper & Compagnie respectively.
Belgium, 19th century.
Dimensions: H: 16 in., (40.6 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall, clean, with a nice patina.
