Lot 80:
A brightly painted enamel on copper tray with a depiction of Apollo and the muses on Mount Parnassus, after a painting by renaissance artist Luca Penni (1500-1556). At one point there was a larger framing section around the edges of the tray, some remnants of which are especially noticeable at the lower left. It is not known why it was removed.
Limoges, France, 19th Century.
Dimensions: 14 1/2 in., (36.8 cm.)
Condition: Good overall with some chipping throughout edge of the tray and a larger section of enamel missing from leg of figure on right of tray. Some wear in places due to age and use.
