Footnote: Marc Chagall, Russian-French, 1887 to 1985, one of the most successful artists of the 20th century, was director of the Art Academy and art Director of the Moscow Jewish State Theater. Moved to France in 1923, and lived in the USA from 1941 to 1948. He was an early modernist. Chagall created works in virtually every artistic medium, including painting, fine art prints, book illustrations, stained glass, ceramic and tapestries, his artwork is kept in many museums across the world.
