AUCTION 52: A NEW YORK AUCTION ART FALL SALE
Lot 67:
Three large parchment folios from liturgical manuscripts, two of them with notes in the margins. Ironically, these pages likely survive to our era only because of their use as bookbinder’s waste, material from broken and discarded books that was used to make the bindings of new ones. Most of the musical notation on these pages is still clear and usable by those knowledgeable in the subject.
Italy and Germany – ca. 13th-14th Century.
Please make all inquiries before bidding.
