The jasper handle is of an ovoid shape and has been set with a gilt crown and Cyrillic cypher ‘BM’, possibly representing Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and his wife the Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna. The base of the seal is decorated as a laurel wreath and reed wreath, both tied with ribbons. The edge is stamped with two marks, the bottom of the matrix is blank.
