Bernard Lamotte, an oil on canvas painting depicting two women and a dog in an empty street in France. Signed lower left. Housed in a wooden frame. Titled "The Concierge (Village Street)" in French on the verso.
Bernard Lamotte (1903-1983) was a French-born illustrator, painter, and muralist. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts at the Sorbonne and later moved to New York City to pursue his artistic career. Among Lamotte’s most famous works is a mural of Christiansted Harbor on St. Croix, Virgin Islands that he created for the White House pool for John F. Kennedy, which is now preserved in the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, Boston.
